Two bike thieves arrested, 12 stolen bikes recovered in major police operation
Jamshedpur police have arrested two individuals from Burmamines and Jugsalai areas, recovering 12 stolen bikes, fake RCs, a master key, and a mobile phone.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant operation against bike thieves, and crime in general, Jamshedpur police have arrested two individuals from the Burmamines and Jugsalai areas, recovering 12 stolen bikes, fake RCs, a master key, and a mobile phone.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishore Kaushal, shared this information with journalists on Sunday.
SSP Kaushal told the scribes about the success in busting crime and stated that frequent bike thefts in and around the Burmamines area led to the formation of a special investigation team under the leadership of the City SP.
According to him, the investigation revealed that the accused were stealing bikes from laborers in various parts of the Burmamines and Jugsalai areas using a master key.
After that, the stolen bikes were sold with fake RCs, often claiming urgent family medical needs to secure amounts between 15,000 to 20,000 rupees.
Following these revelations, the investigation team arrested Satpal Singh from Burmamines and Ankit Sonkar from Jugsalai, the SSP said.
Their interrogation led to the recovery of 12 stolen bikes, four fake RCs, a master key, and a mobile phone, the SSP said.
Additionally, the SSP mentioned that the thieves would initially park the stolen bikes in public parking spaces before relocating them to other places.
Following this information, the SSP instructed all station officers to seize any unclaimed vehicles from public parking areas in the city.
This led to the recovery of seven more two-wheelers from various locations, he revealed.
Efforts are underway to identify the rightful owners of the recovered vehicles so that those could be returned to them promptly.
