MVWSC Meeting Expresses Frustration Over Water Supply Project Delays
Members to Meet Deputy Commissioner on July 9 to Demand Completion of Bagbera Water Supply Project
A meeting of the Multi Village Water and Sanitation Committee (MVWSC) was held on Friday at the Jamshedpur Block Office under the chairmanship of Sunil Kisku.
JAMSHEDPUR – On Friday, a meeting of the Multi Village Water and Sanitation Committee (MVWSC) was held at the Jamshedpur Block Office, chaired by Sunil Kisku.
The meeting was attended by members of the MVWSC, but no representatives from the Adityapur-Jamshedpur Drinking Water and Sanitation Department or the contractors of the Bagbera Comprehensive Rural Water Supply Scheme were present.
Committee members expressed their frustration at the absence of the representatives.
They highlighted that the Jharkhand government had laid the foundation for the Bagbera Comprehensive Water Supply Scheme in 2015 with a budget of Rs 237 crore.
However, nine years later, water has still not reached the 17 panchayats of Bagbera, Kitadih, Karandih, and Ghaghidih.
The members blamed the water supply department officials and contractors for the delay.
The government had set a target to supply water to the settlements by 2018, but as of 2024, the work remains incomplete.
Main and supply pipelines are yet to be laid, and house connections have not been installed.
The water treatment plant work in Gidijhopdi is also unfinished.
The MVWSC decided to meet the Deputy Commissioner on July 9 to demand the immediate completion of the Bagbera Comprehensive Rural Water Supply Scheme.
Present at the meeting were MVWSC President Sunil Kisku, Vice President Neenu Kudada, Manoj Murmu, Joba Mardi, and several others.
The committee is determined to ensure that the long-overdue water supply project is completed without further delays, providing much-needed relief to the affected panchayats.
