CM Hemant Soren Seeks Relief from Ranchi Court in ED Summons Case
Hearing on CM’s Petition for Exemption from Physical Appearance to Continue on July 15
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has sought relief from the Ranchi Civil Court regarding a contempt case involving ED summons.
RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren has petitioned the Ranchi Civil Court for exemption from physical appearance in the ongoing ED summons contempt case.
The court heard the matter today, with the next hearing scheduled for July 15.
During today’s proceedings, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested additional time to file a reply, which the court granted.
The court acknowledged that Hemant Soren has prima facie disobeyed ED summons.
The ED had issued 10 summonses to Soren concerning a land scam case.
However, Soren appeared in response to only two of these summonses and did not attend the remaining eight.
A legal representative of the ED stated, "The agency needs more time to prepare a detailed response."
The court will further deliberate on the matter in the upcoming hearing.
This case highlights the ongoing legal challenges faced by the Jharkhand Chief Minister.
