Food Safety Concerns Rise Over Pani Puri Vendors In Jamshedpur
Authorities Plan Raids Following Reports Of Hazardous Chemicals In Karnataka
Health experts warn of increased risks during rainy season due to contaminated water use.
JAMSHEDPUR – Local food safety authorities have announced plans for stringent inspections of Pani Puri vendors following alarming reports from Karnataka.
"We’re concerned about vendors not adhering to food safety regulations," stated Manzar Hussain, District Food Safety Officer.
Reports of hazardous, potentially carcinogenic chemicals in Pani Puri water have prompted nationwide investigations.
Dr. Nirmal Kumar, former HOD of Medicine at MGM Hospital, warned of serious health risks from contaminated water.
"Consumption of polluted water can lead to diarrhea, jaundice, cholera, and typhoid, especially during rainy seasons," Dr. Kumar explained.
Many vendors operate near drains and use water of questionable quality, increasing health hazards.
Lack of hygiene practices, such as not wearing gloves, further compounds risks of spreading infections.
District authorities plan to conduct raids and water testing of Pani Puri stalls.
"Actions will be based on laboratory reports to ensure public safety," Hussain added.
This crackdown aims to curb health hazards associated with unhygienic food practices in Jamshedpur.
