Meeting on Food Safety Held in West Singhbhum Under Civil Surgeon’s Chairmanship
Officials discuss initiatives to ensure food safety compliance among street vendors.

JAMSHEDPUR – Following the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of West Singhbhum, a meeting on food safety was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal at the Food Safety Office located in Sadar Hospital.
The meeting included the Designated Officer and Additional Chief Medical Officer, Food Safety Officer, President and Vice President of Chaibasa Chamber, President of West Singhbhum Chamber, President of Street Food Vendors Association, and other officials.
Agenda and Discussions
The meeting was convened to take action based on the instructions of the District Level Advisory Committee.
During the meeting, chamber members proposed organizing a food license camp for street food vendors in Chaibasa city.
The chamber members and the Food Safety Office will distribute gloves and hair nets to street food vendors to raise awareness about food safety.
Measures for Compliance
It was decided that if street food vendors continue to violate the Food Safety Act and do not display their food licenses on their stalls, they will face fines.
The Food Safety Officer warned all food vendors against using harmful colors in food items, selling expired or stale food, and operating without obtaining a food license or registration.
Importance of Food Safety
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal and the Additional Chief Medical Officer emphasized the importance of food safety, especially during the monsoon season when the risk of diseases from contaminated water and food increases.
They stressed the need to promote and enforce food safety provisions to prevent health issues.
