JAMSHEDPUR – In response to growing concerns from residents of JEMCO Azad Basti, TSUISL has issued a statement regarding the relocation of trees in the area.
The company emphasized that the trees are being moved, not cut, as part of efforts to enhance community living and infrastructure.
Community Concerns Addressed
TSUISL acknowledged the worries of the JEMCO Azad Basti residents about the tree relocation.
"Our priority is the safety and quality of life for the community, along with environmental protection," the statement read.
The company confirmed obtaining all necessary permissions from the Forest Department and holding discussions with relevant authorities.
Infrastructure Development
TSUISL highlighted the need to widen roads and develop drainage systems and footpaths due to the significant population increase in the basti.
To facilitate this, trees and the electrical network along the route are being relocated within the boundary wall with proper authorization.
"The entire area will benefit from widened roads, new drainage systems, adequate street lighting, footpaths, and extensive roadside plantations," TSUISL added.
Local Concerns Over Illegal Tree Felling
Residents of the Telco area in Jamshedpur had raised concerns about illegal tree felling, with criticism directed at the Forest Department for alleged inaction.
The issue surfaced when trees, planted over 40 years ago near Mishra Garden, were uprooted by the management of JEMCO Ground.
The situation escalated on Wednesday when residents staged a protest, successfully preventing the cutting of a mango tree.

Locals had criticized the Forest Department’s lack of action against what they claimed was illegal tree felling, warning that the area’s condition will worsen as temperatures rise.
The locals had urged the department to promptly address the issue and enforce regulations more strictly.
Residents had emphasized the importance of preserving green spaces and maintaining ecological balance, calling for better oversight to prevent further illegal tree felling.
However, TSUISL has now come out with a statement and has reiterated its commitment to working closely with the community aims to ensure development activities do not harm the environment or the residents’ quality of life.
