BJP’s Sanjay Seth Secures Second Term as Ranchi MP, Defeats Congress Candidate Yashaswini Sahay

Seth Expresses Gratitude to Ranchi Voters, Claims Modi Government Will Be Formed for the Third Time

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sanjay Seth has emerged victorious in the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency for the second consecutive term, defeating Congress candidate Yashaswini Sahay by a margin of 1,20,512 votes.

RANCHI – In a closely contested election, Sanjay Seth secured 45.91% of the total votes cast, while Yashaswini Sahay received 37.59% of the votes, finishing second.

The counting of votes took place at the Pandra Bazar Samiti counting centre in Ranchi on Tuesday, June 4, with the process starting at 8 am amid tight administrative preparations.

Initially, the postal ballot counting saw Congress candidate Yashaswini Sahay taking the lead, garnering 6,574 votes compared to Sanjay Seth’s 5,757 votes.

Independent candidate Devendra Nath Mahato secured 2,121 postal votes.

Seth Secures Victory with 45.91% of Total Votes

As the counting progressed, Sanjay Seth managed to secure a total of 6,64,732 votes, representing 45.91% of the total votes cast in the constituency.

Yashaswini Sahay finished second with 5,44,220 votes (37.59%), while Devendra Nath Mahato came in third with 1,30,526 votes (9.16%).

The Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a total of 14,47,781 votes cast, with 8,153 votes recorded under the NOTA (None of the Above) option.

The election had a total of 27 candidates in the fray.

Returning Officer Rahul Kumar Sinha formally announced Sanjay Seth’s victory and handed over the certificate to the newly elected MP.

"The people of Ranchi have reaffirmed their faith in the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am humbled by their support and pledge to work tirelessly for the development of the region," said Sanjay Seth, expressing his gratitude to the voters.

In his interaction with media persons following his victory, Sanjay Seth expressed his gratitude to the people of Ranchi for their support.

He emphasized that the elections were fought on the issue of development, and the voting patterns clearly indicated that the work done by the BJP was yielding positive results.

Seth confidently claimed that the Modi government would be formed for the third time in the country, stating that the public had expressed faith in Modi’s guarantee.

When questioned about not securing seats as per expectations, he acknowledged that elections are influenced by various factors and that the party was not disappointed with the outcome.
