Masika Mahotsav Celebrates World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Jamshedpur’s Tiring Village

Padman of Jharkhand, Tarun Kumar, Emphasizes Importance of Menstrual Hygiene and Honoring Daughters

The celebration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Tiring village highlighted the need for proper menstrual health and honored daughters by placing nameplates on houses.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Nishchay Foundation organized Masika Mahotsav in Tiring village to mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day, addressing myths and promoting menstrual health.

Tarun Kumar, known as the Padman of Jharkhand, spoke to the attendees.

The girls vowed to overcome their shyness and hesitation regarding menstruation.

Myths about menstruation were also discussed.

Kumar emphasized the importance of the village’s tradition of nameplates honoring daughters and mothers.

The event included discussions on menstrual health, menstrual management tools, and disease prevention related to menstruation.

A Period Library was launched in the village.

Over 40 girls and women attended.

Nishchay Foundation plans to run awareness programs on health, education, gender equality, women’s rights, and child-girl equality over the next six months.

Community members, including Jal Sahiya Chandni Sardar, Manju Sardar, Suman Sardar, and Santosh Sharma, participated actively.

Eco-friendly sanitary pads were distributed.

The festival aims to encourage menstrual hygiene and eliminate taboos.

Kumar stressed the need for proper menstrual hygiene to prevent diseases.

The event involves placing nameplates with daughters’ names on houses to honor them.
