Jamshedpur Prepares for Construction of Two Major Flyovers with Intensive Soil Testing

Projects Aim to Improve Connectivity Between Mango-Sakchi and Pardih-Baliguma on NH-33

The city is abuzz with soil testing activities as preparations for the construction of two significant flyovers are underway.

JAMSHEDPUR – Preparations for the construction of two major flyovers in Jamshedpur are in full swing, with extensive soil testing underway.

There is a project underway to construct a four-lane flyover that will connect Mango to Sakchi. Additionally, another project is in progress to build a flyover from Pardih to Baliguma on NH-33.

The officials in charge of the projects have not given a clear timeline for when the soil testing for the Mango-Sakchi flyover will be completed.

After the soil testing phase is finished, the joint venture consultants, Dinesh Chandra Aggarwal and Ibra ISKCON, will submit the design to the Road Construction Department.

Once approved, construction of the 3.4-kilometer flyover will begin, with an estimated cost of Rs 252 crore. The project is anticipated to be finished within 18 months.

We have collected soil samples from around 16 different locations, including sites near Gandhi Ghat Park and Mango Chhota Bridge.

In addition, scientists have sent samples from the riverbed to laboratories for analysis.

Soil testers have gone to great lengths, drilling down to depths of up to 75 feet, in order to collect detailed information. This data is essential for accurately determining the depth of solid rock formations below the surface, which is crucial for ensuring the stability and strength of the flyover pillars.

Meanwhile, HG Infra Engineering has been awarded the contract by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to construct a 10.021-kilometer long flyover. They emerged as the lowest bidder and successfully secured the project.

With an estimated value of around Rs 690 crore, this four-lane flyover is projected to be finished in two and a half years.

After the soil testing is completed, HG Infra Engineering will submit the design to NHAI for approval. Construction is expected to start in July.

These projects aim to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in Jamshedpur, making travel between key areas much easier.
