JNAC Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Constructions in Jamshedpur
High Court Mandates JNAC to Address Encroachments in City
Following a directive from the Jharkhand High Court, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has launched a vigorous campaign to dismantle illegal structures and encroachments throughout the city. This action has sparked significant resistance from affected business owners.
JAMSHEDPUR – In response to legal orders, Jamshedpur has initiated a significant crackdown on buildings and encroachments that deviate from approved plans.
The operation started in the Sakchi mango orchards, targeting constructions that extended into public spaces.
Despite the protests from local shopkeepers, the removal process continued, with several shop balconies being demolished by JNAC’s bulldozers.
Shopkeepers tried to resist by presenting their documents but were quickly reminded by authorities that building on public land without permission is illegal.
The operation escalated to the point where police intervention was necessary to maintain peace, using force to prevent any interference with the demolition activities.
This enforcement drive stems from a longstanding issue of unauthorized constructions in Jamshedpur, which was brought to the forefront by a public interest litigation leading to the High Court’s ruling.
