Severe Heat Wave Sweeps Across Jharkhand, Relief Expected Soon

Jharkhand Districts Face Scorching Temperatures with Rain Anticipated by Weekend

Jharkhand is currently experiencing a severe heat wave, with temperatures soaring to alarming highs across various districts, particularly in Kolhan. The highest temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Baharagora, closely followed by 43 degrees in Seraikela, and slightly lower yet scorching figures in other districts including Jamshedpur and West Singhbhum. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for the state from May 4 to 5, suggesting that relief in the form of rain may only be a few days away.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand’s residents are facing intense heat conditions, with temperatures reaching critical levels. The highest temperature, recorded at 43.7 degrees Celsius in Baharagora, underscores the severity of the ongoing heat wave.

Temperature Surge

The temperature in Seraikela hit 43 degrees Celsius, and Jamshedpur recorded a high of 42.6 degrees. Other districts such as West Singhbhum, Godda, and Jamtara also experienced extreme heat, with temperatures ranging from 42.3 to 41.2 degrees Celsius.

The state’s Meteorological Department has issued an alert, warning of heat wave conditions across most parts of Jharkhand, highlighting the need for precautions among residents.

Anticipated Weather Changes

However, there is a silver lining as the forecast predicts a possible shift in weather conditions. Starting May 6, rain with thunderstorms is expected in regions including Deoghar, Dumka, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, and Pakur, which could bring a much-needed drop in temperatures.

From May 7 to May 9, most districts of the state are likely to receive rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, potentially easing the heat. The predicted wind speed during these storms could reach 40-50 kilometers per hour, possibly providing a respite from the current oppressive temperatures.
