Jugsalai Railway Crossing to Get New Foot Overbridge, Enhancing Pedestrian Safety
Construction of Vital Infrastructure Project to Begin Soon at Jugsalai
A new foot overbridge (FOB) at Jugsalai railway crossing is set to commence construction within the next week, aimed at improving pedestrian safety and convenience.
JAMSHEDPUR – A new foot overbridge (FOB) at Jugsalai railway crossing is set to commence construction within the next week, aimed at improving pedestrian safety and convenience.
The IOW of Sini Railway has officially issued the construction order and completed land measurements near the crossing.
The Chakradharpur Division Railway will be handling the construction of the 32-meter-long and three-feet-wide bridge, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.25 crore.
Originally planned as a 15-meter structure, the FOB’s length was increased to accommodate the expansion of railway lines.
The project will displace several small shops and kiosks in the area to make way for the bridge.
This development is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters from Jugsalai and neighboring areas such as Bagbera and Baroda Ghat.
School students and workers who travel to Jugsalai will find improved access and safety once the bridge is completed.
The push for the FOB began after coverage by Hindustan Dainik on pedestrian safety issues last year, leading to action from Chakradharpur DRM Arun J Rathore.
Pedestrians are expected to have access to the new overbridge within four to five months.
The need for this bridge has been a community request since 1973, with various protests and advocacy efforts highlighting the urgent need for safe pedestrian pathways.
With over two lakh pedestrians set to benefit, the local community eagerly anticipates the completion of this crucial infrastructure.
