On the occasion of Mahatma Hansraj’s Birth Anniversary, DAV Public School, Bistupur, organized a blood donation camp to tackle the community’s blood supply crisis.
JAMSHEDPUR – DAV Public School in Bistupur marked a significant event by hosting a blood donation camp, coinciding with both Mahatma Hansraj’s Birth Anniversary and the school’s ‘Inception Day’ on April 27, 2024.
The event was held under the guidance of Mrs. Pragya Singh, Principal and ARO of Jharkhand Zone E, and was organized in partnership with Jamshedpur Blood Bank and Pratik Sangarsh Foundation.
The blood donation camp began with the ceremonial DAV Gaan and the lighting of the lamp.
Mrs. Pragya Singh welcomed the esteemed guests including Mr. Sanjay Mishra, Editor of Prabhat Khabar, and other dignitaries from the Jamshedpur Blood Bank and Pratik Sangarsh Foundation.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Singh emphasized the critical need for blood donations and the camp’s role in boosting community supplies and raising awareness about voluntary blood donation.
"The need for blood is constant, and every donor here is potentially saving a life," stated Mrs. Singh, highlighting the significance of the day’s event.
She also acknowledged the inspiring contributions from the school’s alumni, who set a commendable example for current students.
The event saw impressive participation, with 305 volunteers including DAV staff, parents, and alumni coming forward to donate blood.
The school campus was energized by medical students who encouraged participation through slogans and educational activities, highlighting the importance and benefits of blood donation.
"By donating blood, you are not just helping someone in need, but you are also part of a much larger mission to ensure our community stays healthy," Mr. Arijit Sarkar of Pratik Sangarsh Foundation commented during the event.
Each volunteer underwent thorough medical screening to ensure their eligibility for donation, with tests conducted for hemoglobin levels, blood pressure, and other vital parameters.
The qualified donors then proceeded to the donation area, where trained phlebotomists collected blood using safe and sterile techniques.
The blood collected during the camp will be used to support patients requiring transfusions due to emergencies, surgeries, and chronic conditions.
