Local Tragedy Strikes as Senior Citizen Found Deceased in Kandra BDO Colony

An 85-year-old ration dealer from Kandra has tragically ended his life, leading to widespread shock and sadness within the local community.

KANDRA – An elderly ration dealer, aged 85, has taken his own life in his BDO Colony residence, creating a wave of shock throughout the area.

Shishupal Varshney was found deceased, having hung himself from a ceiling fan in his rented home.

This occurred under the jurisdiction of Kandra police station in Seraikela district.

Upon discovery Wednesday morning, police were promptly notified and arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

Investigations commenced immediately following the police’s arrival, with efforts to notify Varshney’s family underway.

Neighbors became alarmed upon noticing Varshney’s absence during his routine morning activities, which typically included feeding pigeons and walking.

His absence was confirmed by the sight of an open front door, prompting a neighbor’s investigation and the grim discovery.

The community of local ration dealers, as well as the area’s residents, have been struck by a profound sense of loss and despair.

Varshney, who operated a licensed government ration shop, lived alone in a property owned by Suraj Prasad Yadav.

His daughter resides in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, far from where the tragedy unfolded.
