Jharkhand Archers Set to Shine at Archery World Cup in Shanghai
Indian Team at Archery World Cup Boasts Strong Representation from Jharkhand
The Indian archery team, featuring a strong contingent from Jharkhand, is set to compete in the Archery World Cup Stage-1 in Shanghai from April 23-28.
JAMSHEDPUR – Leading the Indian recurve women’s team are five archers from Jharkhand, showcasing the state’s dominance in the sport.
The team includes seasoned athletes like Deepika Kumari and promising talents Ankita Bhakat, Komolika Bari, and Bhajan Kaur, all from Tata Archery Academy. Mrinal Chauhan will represent the men’s team, further highlighting Jharkhand’s archery prowess.
Adding to the region’s pride, Purnima Mahato of Jamshedpur, recently awarded the Padma Shri, has been appointed as the women’s team coach.
Her journey to Shanghai began right after receiving her award in New Delhi, driven by her dedication to archery.
Expressing optimism about the upcoming events, Mahato highlighted the significance of this year for archery, with the World Cup and Paris Olympic Qualifiers on the horizon. She is confident in the team’s preparation and anticipates strong performances.
