Jamshedpur Gangster Acquitted in 2008 Judge Attack Case

Akhilesh Singh cleared of charges in firing on former judge RP Ravi due to insufficient evidence.

In a significant legal development, Jamshedpur’s notorious gangster, Akhilesh Singh, has been acquitted in the 2008 case involving the attack on former court judge RP Ravi.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant legal development, Jamshedpur’s gangster, Akhilesh Singh, has been acquitted in the 2008 case involving the attack on former court judge RP Ravi.

The verdict came after a final round of arguments on Monday, where Singh’s lawyer, Prakash Jha, presented a lengthy defense, assisted by Advocate Vidya Singh.

The court concluded there was insufficient evidence to convict Singh in the shooting incident, which occurred on March 20, 2008.

On that day, RP Ravi was ambushed by two assailants on a motorcycle as he crossed the road in front of the Excise Department after shopping at the Sakchi market.

Ravi sustained gunshot wounds near his ear, on his left chest, and in his leg, rendering him unconscious and necessitating urgent medical care at TMH.

At the time of the attack, Ravi had retired and was serving as the Chairman of the Permanent Lok Adalat.

While the other accused in the case—Bunty Jaiswal, Manoranjan Singh alias Lallu Singh, and Ritesh Rai—are being tried separately, Akhilesh Singh is currently incarcerated in Dumka jail for other offenses.
