Jamshedpur Cultural Organisation to Revives Bengali Theatre with Poignant Play “Tringso Satabdi” on April 6

JCO stages thought-provoking play to reignite passion for Bengali theatre in Jamshedpur

In an effort to revitalize the once thriving Bengali theatre scene in Jamshedpur, the Jamshedpur Cultural Organisation (JCO) is staging the renowned play "Tringso Satabdi" at Rabindra Bhawan on April 6, 2024.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Cultural Organisation (JCO) has taken a significant step towards reviving the Bengali theatre culture in the city, which has been overshadowed by the growing influence of social media and smart television in recent years.

As part of their initiative, JCO will present the acclaimed play "Tringso Satabdi" at Rabindra Bhawan, Jamshedpur, on April 6, 2024, at 6:30 pm.

The play, written by the celebrated playwright Badal Sarkar, explores the devastating impact of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, emphasizing the tragic consequences of war and violence.

Under the skillful direction of Shiba Prasad Banerjee, a well-respected figure in the Jamshedpur theatre community, "Tringso Satabdi" features a talented cast, including Biswajit Kundu, Siddhartha Sen, Mousumi Banerjee, Suraj Ray, Jenobia Mishra, Sarthok Karmokar, and Amit Das.

The production boasts meticulous attention to detail, with lighting by Probir Chatterjee and music by Sucheta Mishra, promising a captivating theatrical experience for the audience.

Nearly a decade ago, Jamshedpur was home to numerous thriving Bengali theatre associations, offering a wide range of plays to enthusiastic audiences.

However, over time, this rich cultural heritage has gradually faded, leaving only a few dedicated groups striving to keep the tradition alive.

Recognizing the urgent need to preserve and promote Bengali theatre, JCO has embarked on a mission to rejuvenate the theatre scene in the city and engage the younger generation in this art form.

Through powerful storytelling and compelling performances, "Tringso Satabdi" aims to provoke thought, evoke emotions, and resonate with audiences on a profound level.
