JAMSHEDPUR – Security forces in Chaibasa district successfully dismantled five Naxalite bunkers during a coordinated operation in the Saranda forest region.

Chaibasa district police launched the operation alongside COBRA 209 battalion personnel. The joint forces targeted the Chhotanagra police station area on Friday. Security personnel destroyed five underground bunkers used by Maoist militants.

However, the operation began after receiving intelligence inputs on July 7. Sources informed police about hidden ammunition in the area. The information suggested CPI (Maoist) cadres had concealed weapons and explosives.

Meanwhile, search operations commenced on July 8 in the forest region. District police coordinated with COBRA battalion forces throughout the mission. The intensive search lasted for three days across difficult terrain.

On the other hand, forces discovered the bunkers on July 11. The hideouts contained sophisticated communication equipment and explosives. Security teams recovered electric detonators from the underground chambers.

Moreover, personnel seized walkie-talkie sets and safety fuses from the bunkers. Arrow bomb assemblies were also found during the search operation. Electric wires and syringe mechanisms were among the recovered items.

In addition, forces found military uniforms and ammunition pouches. Daily-use items suggested regular occupation of the hideouts. The bunkers appeared to be well-equipped operational bases.

Besides the equipment, two improvised explosive devices were discovered. The bomb disposal squad immediately assessed the threat level. Experts safely detonated both IEDs at the location.

Furthermore, the operation marks a significant success against Naxalite activities. The Saranda forest region has been a known Maoist stronghold. Security forces continue monitoring the area for further threats.
