JAMSHEDPUR – The 17th Jharkhand State Elite Boxing Championships commenced with 113 athletes competing across men’s and women’s divisions.
Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, inaugurated the prestigious event.
Meanwhile, Anand Bihari Dubey, Secretary of Jharkhand Boxing Association, outlined the tournament structure.
Additionally, Chief Sports Officer Mukul Vinayak Chaudhuri represented Tata Steel’s sports division.
The competition showcases talent from 15 districts across Jharkhand.
Moreover, athletes competed in 55 intense bouts during the opening day.
"This championship serves as a crucial platform for identifying state-level boxing talent," noted a senior sports official.
East Singhbhum’s Neha Tantubai demonstrated exceptional prowess in the ring.
Furthermore, she secured victory against Krishna Kumari from Dhanbad.
Meanwhile, the remaining finals will conclude on November 21.
Notably, Jharkhand has produced several national-level boxing champions in recent years.
In addition, the state’s boxing program has seen significant growth since 2020.
