JAMSHEDPUR – The Meteorological Centre Ranchi has issued a forecast for widespread rainfall across the southern districts of Jharkhand.
Areas including and surrounding Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Gumla are set to experience isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The forecast, valid from 0830 IST of 30/03/2024 to 0830 IST of 01/04/2024, indicates varied precipitation across the region. Southern parts, notably Simdega, Khunti, and West Singhbhum, are expected to see significant rainfall.
The rainfall forecast map marks these areas in green, signifying a high likelihood of rain, with the percentage based on the number of stations reporting rainfall.
Southern Regions Under Alert for Thunderstorms
Following this, a yellow warning, which signifies ‘be prepared’, has been issued for the second day.
The advisory covers the potential for isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, particularly affecting the districts of Gumla, Simdega, and both East and West Singhbhum.
These conditions are expected to prevail from 0830 IST of 31/03/2024 to 0830 IST of 01/04/2024.
Ranchi, the state capital, also falls under this alert, with the public urged to stay informed and exercise caution.
Gusty Winds to Precede Thunderstorms
The first day’s alert warns of isolated thunder with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph. This warning encompasses a significant portion of southern Jharkhand, including the capital city of Ranchi.
The areas under this advisory are shown in yellow on the map, indicating a need for the public to be updated and prepared for sudden weather changes.

According to the IMD Ranchi Centre, the temperature is likely to slowly increase by 2-3 degree C during the next 48 hours. After that there is no possibility of any major change in the weather.
