Chief Secretaries and DGPs Discuss Election Preparedness
Meeting organized under UP Chief Secretary’s chairmanship focuses on Lok Sabha elections security and coordination among nine states.
RANCHI – A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has been organized to foster inter-state coordination ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Director General of Police (DGP) from Jharkhand, along with senior officials, participated in this vital assembly, conducted through video conferencing.
Officials from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh were involved in extensive discussions.
The focus was primarily on the maintenance of law and order and the establishment of mutual coordination in the inter-state border areas during the election period.
An in-depth review concerning the uninterrupted maintenance of law and order in all inter-state border areas was conducted.
Actions being taken against Naxalites and criminals, as well as steps for ensuring security, were critically examined.
The meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing the presence of Armed Central Police Forces in regions affected by Naxalite activities to curb their operations effectively.
The identification of criminals and miscreants active in border areas was emphasized, along with the review of actions taken against them.
Sharing criminal lists with neighboring states was considered crucial for bolstering security measures.
Jharkhand’s DGP, Ajay Kumar Singh, alongside IG Amol Vinukant Homkar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Singh, and DIG Election Cell Dhananjay Singh, represented their state.
They have committed to deploying additional forces and maintaining a strict vigil at police checkpoints to prevent smuggling of illegal liquor, weapons, and narcotics.
This meeting underscores the collective efforts of state governments to ensure a safe and secure environment for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
