Excise Department Ramps Up Efforts Against Spurious Liquor

Elaborate Measures in Place for Safe Liquor Sale During Elections, Holi

With the approach of the Lok Sabha elections and Holi festivities, the excise department is intensifying its efforts to clamp down on the sale and distribution of spurious liquor.

JAMSHEDPUR – In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the Holi festival, the excise department has heightened its vigilance to curb the menace of spurious liquor and ensure fair pricing in branded liquor outlets.

Assistant Commissioner of the excise department, Ramlila Ravani, has highlighted the government’s stringent guidelines against the illegal sale of liquor, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of duplication.

Ravani mentioned, "Our teams have been meticulously assembled to monitor compliance with these regulations and take decisive action against violators."

Continuous raids are part of a broader strategy to prevent the sale of counterfeit liquor, protect consumers from overcharging, and guarantee the availability of authentic brands across bars and retail outlets.

The excise department is particularly alert during this period, aiming to prevent the misuse of liquor in swaying electoral outcomes.

"There is a concerted effort to ensure that liquor does not become a tool for electoral inducement," Ravani explained, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

The department’s proactive approach involves ensuring that customers have access to a wide range of genuine liquor products, thereby safeguarding public health and consumer rights.
