RANCHI – Jharkhand Police demonstrated strict action by arresting and publicly parading Firoz Ali, accused of harassing schoolgirls in the Kotwali police station area of Ranchi. The move came after Chief Minister Hemant Soren issued firm directives for swift action following the viral video of the incident.
Viral Video Sparks Swift Action
The harassment incident occurred on Saturday in Upper Bazar, where Firoz Ali misbehaved with schoolgirls on their way to class. A video of the act spread rapidly across social media and eventually reached the Chief Minister.
Taking immediate cognizance, CM Hemant Soren ordered the police to arrest the accused without delay. The police force, led by top officials including IG, DIG, SSP, and City SP, swung into action, launching a city-wide hunt for the accused.
Arrest and Public Parade
Firoz Ali, who had a ₹10,000 reward on his arrest, was finally apprehended in the Lower Bazar area. To send a strong message against such offenders, police paraded Firoz Ali in handcuffs through the streets of Ranchi.
City SP Rajkumar Mehta addressed a press conference, confirming the arrest. He stated, “After the video went viral, police registered a case and acted swiftly. The accused was found hiding in the Upper Bazar area and has now been sent to jail.”

The public parade of the accused, clad in a black jacket, was intended to deter others from harassing women and girls. This action highlights the Jharkhand Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and upholding law and order.
