JAMSHEDPUR – A dispute over irregularities in road construction led to an assault on Junior Engineer (JE) Md. Jalaluddin Ansari of Mango Municipal Corporation on Thursday. The incident took place in Baliguma Dahar Tola under MGM Police Station.
Md. Jalaluddin Ansari, a resident of Jugsalai Mahatopara Road, visited the site with a team to inspect the paving block work on a road constructed under a contract awarded to a contractor, who is allegedly a resident of Rajendranagar, Ulidih.
During the inspection, the JE raised objections regarding the quality and irregularities in the work, which escalated into a heated argument.
The contractor allegedly assaulted Ansari at the site. Later, when Ansari reached the Mango Municipal Corporation office in an injured state, the contractor followed him there and created further chaos.
Ansari has filed a case of assault against the contractor with MGM Police. The police confirmed the registration of the case and stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine further actions.
The incident has highlighted tensions between municipal officials and contractors over quality compliance in public projects.
