JMM Accuses BJP’s Pradip Verma of Concealing Assets

BJP Leader Pradip Varma Questioned by JMM for Alleged Hidden Assets

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha alleges BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Pradeep Verma hid assets and misrepresented residency details in his affidavit, promising detailed revelations to the Election Commission after the Lok Sabha elections, sparking controversy over transparency and electoral integrity.

RANCHI – In a politically-charged accusation, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) claims Pradeep Verma, a newly elected BJP Rajya Sabha member, obscured substantial assets and residency details in official documents.

Verma’s history of unreported property ownership, including assets in Angada, Khelgaon, and Dhanbad, has been questioned by the JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya. With a wealth that "doubled by the day," his financial declarations have raised eyebrows from JMM. Alleged discrepancies in his father’s name and the lack of clear employment or business designation further muddy the waters, JMM’s Supriyo Bhattacharya said.

"This blatant disregard for legal and ethical standards by Pradeep Verma is alarming," stated Supriyo Bhattacharya, JMM General Secretary. He outlined Verma’s alleged intricate web of undeclared assets and residency falsifications.

Property Discrepancies

Supriyo Bhattacharya said that evidence suggests Verma owns several properties not listed in his affidavit. His portfolio includes a flat near Pandara and a farm house in Angada.

"Verma’s undeclared assets highlight a disturbing pattern of deception," Bhattacharya remarked. This revelation has prompted calls from JMM for a thorough investigation.

Electoral Integrity Questioned

The JMM’s allegations extend beyond property, touching on broader concerns of electoral conduct. JMM criticized the Election Commission’s perceived inaction, suggesting a compromised electoral oversight.

Political sources said that the allegations are likely to further aggravate the war of words between JMM and BJP in the run up to Lok Sabha elections. They hinted that BJP too is likely to make counter allegations against JMM, especially on the issue of corruption and that the exchanges are likely to continue until the elections are completed.
