Jamshedpur College Highlights Linguistic Diversity on Mother Tongue Day

In a vibrant celebration of languages, Jamshedpur Workers College hosted an event for International Mother Tongue Day, emphasizing the critical role of languages in human connection and cultural preservation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Workers College marked International Mother Tongue Day with a special program organized by all its language departments, underlining the essence of linguistic diversity and the importance of preserving one’s mother tongue.

Principal Dr. Satyapriy Mahalik highlighted the intrinsic role of language in expressing feelings and acquiring knowledge, asserting language’s pivotal contribution to human evolution and civilization development.

The event featured poetic and musical expressions in various languages, including Bhojpuri, Urdu, Maithili, and Bangla, showcasing the rich tapestry of India’s linguistic heritage.

Faculty members across different language departments, such as Hindi, Urdu, English, and regional languages, participated, with students and teachers presenting in their native tongues.

Dr. Mahalik addressed the diminishing role of traditional communication methods due to mobile technology’s impact, urging the continued use and preservation of languages and scripts.

The celebration was a call to action for students and educators to cherish and utilize their mother languages, reinforcing the importance of linguistic identity in a rapidly globalizing world.

The program, coordinated by Prof. Sudeshna Banerjee and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. S. Meenakshi, served as a reminder of the vibrant linguistic diversity within the college and the broader community.
