‘Sustainable Transition for Future-Ready Jharkhand’ Conference Ends on High Note

The landmark conference in Jharkhand concludes, setting a roadmap for an inclusive and sustainable future through collaborative efforts and innovation.

RANCHI – The ‘Sustainable Transition for Future-Ready Jharkhand’ conference concluded successfully, leaving behind a blueprint for a sustainable and inclusive growth path for the state.

Over 300 delegates, including government officials, industry leaders, and sustainability experts from 30 countries, gathered to forge a consensus on accelerating Jharkhand’s journey towards a green economy.

Key outcomes include the call for institutional financing mechanisms, securing climate finance for green growth, fostering an innovation-driven ecosystem, and strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships.

The Jharkhand government’s Task Force on Sustainable Just Transition, with support from CEED, UNDP India, and the World Resources Institute India, organized the event, underlining the state’s commitment to sustainable development.

Avinash Kumar, emphasizing the energy sector’s role, advocated for a green growth strategy that aligns with societal, environmental, and economic goals, proposing an institutional framework for this transition.

Ajoy Kumar Singh highlighted the need for climate finance in building economic opportunities and social infrastructure, while Vandana Dadel stressed on sustainability, inclusivity, and community empowerment as fundamental to the transition.

A.K. Rastogi, chairperson of the Task Force, underscored the global shift towards a green economy, noting the conference’s role in catalyzing partnerships and emphasizing the need for a sustainable transition mechanism and a dedicated fund.

The conference also proposed establishing a knowledge hub and a centre of excellence in Jharkhand, aiming to lead the state towards a future where sustainability and economic growth go hand in hand.
