Jamshedpur observes complete weekend lockdown as businesses remain closed

Jamshedpur: Normal business in Jamshedpur remained at a standstill as the city went into a complete lockdown mode as per the directives of the state government. The complete lockdown was announced by the state government as a part of Health Protection Week. The lockdown came into effect from Saturday 4 p.m. and would remain effective till Monday 6.00 am.

Keeping in view the risks of covid-19 pandemic spreading its wings again and to curb fresh infections, the state government took a decision to impose a complete lockdown from 4:00 pm on Saturday to 6:00 am on Monday as a part of Health protection Week.

Complying with the orders of the state government on Sunday, all the traders of the city kept their businesses shut and preferred to spend a quiet day with their family.

Police teams were seen deployed at different check posts and squares of the city.

Policemen were vetting those who were driving on the roads for different purposes.

The City SP Subhash Chandra Jat said that according to the order of the government, all shops will remain closed till 6:00 am on Monday. He said that strict legal action will be taken if anyone is found violating the order.

Social worker D Ghosh lauded the steps taken by the state government and said that strict lockdown on Sundays will help curb the spread of the pandemic.
