2000 Health Workers Celebrate Progress at Sahiyya Sammelan
Seraikela: Tata Steel Foundation’s collaboration with NHM and AIF at the Sahiyya Sammelan highlights the vital role of 2000 sahiyyas in enhancing rural healthcare.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Foundation, in collaboration with the National Health Mission and American India Foundation, recently celebrated the significant strides made in rural healthcare at the second annual Sahiyya Sammelan held in Seraikela-Kharsawan.
The event underscored the essential role of sahiyyas in advancing the MANSI+ initiative, demonstrating a decade-long commitment to improving maternal and child health in the Kolhan region.
Amit Kumar from the Tata Steel Foundation initiated the event with a recap of MANSI+’s ten-year journey, emphasizing the crucial role of these community health workers in reaching underserved populations.
The program featured innovative awareness sessions, including a street play on sexual health and the transformative saas bahu pati sammelan, marking a shift in community health dialogues.
The Tata Steel Foundation has championed MANSI+ as a scalable model, significantly reducing maternal and child mortality rates, showcasing its adaptability across different regions.
Sourav Roy, CEO of the Tata Steel Foundation, highlighted the assembly of 6000 sahiyyas as a testament to the organization’s vision for an equitable society, acknowledging their contribution to healthcare accessibility.
The Sahiyya Sammelan was graced by notable dignitaries including Archana Tigga, DPC of Seraikela-Kharsawan, alongside Dr. Ajay Kumar Sinha and Satya Thakur, reflecting a collaborative effort in public health.
A third Sahiyya Sammelan is anticipated to unite an additional 2000 sahiyyas, reinforcing the collective impact of the 6000-strong network in the Kolhan division.
During the event, 16 distinguished sahiyyas were honored for their exemplary service in the MANSI+ program across three districts, showcasing the effective implementation of healthcare initiatives.
