Road Accident Claims 2 Lives in Pakur
Two fatalities in Pakur district after truck incident, locals demand compensation.
Two individuals were killed in a late-night road accident involving a truck in Pakur district, sparking protests and road blockades by the local community.
RANCHI – The incident led to the deployment of Hiranpur police to the site to calm the situation.
Sunil Kumar Ravi, the officer in charge at Hiranpur police station, stated that the villagers cleared the road blockade following police assurances.
He confirmed that the victims’ bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy and the truck involved has been confiscated.
To address the villagers’ grievances, the police offered assurances, resulting in the removal of the blockade.
The road blockade was initiated by villagers demanding compensation for the victims’ families.
This demand came after a high-speed truck struck and killed Rameshwar Marandi and Debu Soren during the Sohrai festival celebrations.
The tragedy occurred in Bindadih village, where the two victims were part of a larger gathering celebrating the festival.
Following the accident, the driver fled the scene, leaving the truck behind.
The accident not only resulted in two fatalities but also narrowly missed harming several others in the vicinity.
