Jharkhand’s Political Crisis Deepens with Soren’s Arrest and Property Scam

RANCHI – Hemant Soren, formerly the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has been placed in judicial custody following his arrest in a high-profile money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) probe, initiated with ECIR No. RNZO/25/2023, unveiled a complex web of illegal land transfers involving Soren.

At the heart of this scandal are incriminating documents found at Revenue Sub Inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad’s residence, implicating multiple individuals in the fraudulent activities.

The investigation further revealed a series of 12 properties, totaling 8.5 acres, illegally acquired in Soren’s name, as evidenced by mobile records of Pratap Prasad.

This intricate scheme was exposed following extensive searches and document seizures at Soren’s Delhi residence, including a significant cash haul and vital evidence of land occupation.

Legal Proceedings and Political Turmoil

The ED’s findings led to the registration of FIR 272/23, culminating in Soren’s arrest under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The political landscape of Jharkhand has been drastically altered, with Soren, a once untouchable figure, now reduced to an ordinary MLA status.
