JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Workers Union, a pivotal entity in the industrial landscape of Jamshedpur, is currently engaged in its 2024 electoral process.
The election, which is set to fill 214 executive committee seats, has already seen a significant number of candidates, 69 in total, being declared unopposed.
This development underscores the union’s democratic ethos and the active participation of its members in the electoral process.
Of these 69 candidates, 13 were confirmed unopposed on January 27, 2024, following an earlier announcement of 56 candidates on January 25.
The 13 candidates who achieved unopposed status on January 27 include notable names like Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary and Hemant Kumar from the Lime Plant, and others from various divisions such as Merchant Mill, LD 2, New Bar Mill, Coke Plant, Sinter Plant, LD3, LD 1, SMD, and Tube Division.
The overall count of candidates for the elections was initially 441, with aspirants collecting forms to contest.
As the nomination process concluded on January 27, a total of 422 candidates had submitted their forms, setting the stage for a competitive election.
The remaining 145 seats, after accounting for those declared unopposed, will see active contests among these 422 candidates.
