District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has mandated that Lok Sabha election candidates must reveal any criminal charges against them to enhance transparency.

JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has mandated that Lok Sabha election candidates must reveal any criminal charges against them to enhance transparency.

Candidates must submit detailed accounts of their criminal cases through an affidavit in Form 26, alongside informing their respective political parties.

These parties are then responsible for displaying this data on their official websites.

Following their nomination submissions, both the candidates and their parties are obliged to broadcast this information in major newspapers and television networks three times.

This directive ensures that voters have sufficient information to understand the legal backgrounds of the electoral candidates.

The initiative by the election authority aims to foster an informed voting environment by ensuring all criminal records of candidates are public prior to the elections.
