Jharkhand Battles Cold Spell and Dense Fog Disruption

Foggy Mornings in Jharkhand Lead to Changes in School Timings

Jharkhand experiences a cold wave with foggy conditions in several districts, including Ranchi, leading to altered school schedules and a cautious public staying indoors.

RANCHI – In the Kolhan area, the last 24 hours have seen significant rainfall, with Jagannathpur in Chaibasa reporting the highest at 26 mm.

Simdega also experienced notable rainfall, recording around 20 mm.

Jamshedpur’s weather mirrored the state’s cold conditions, with a maximum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and a chilling minimum of 15 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 21.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature dropped to 12 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Centre forecasts a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures on January 22 and 23.

Predictions indicate that the maximum temperature could reach around 24 degrees Celsius due to clearer weather.

Ranchi is expected to endure cold temperatures below nine degrees Celsius for a day or two.

The Meteorological Center’s prediction suggests a decrease in haze on January 20-21.

A yellow alert has been issued for moderate to dense fog across the state on January 22 and 23.

Previously, the minimum temperature had risen due to cloudy skies, while the maximum temperature had dropped, making the cold more pronounced throughout the day.

Residents are advised to stay indoors unless necessary, as the cold continues to grip the region.

Schools in Jharkhand have adjusted their timings to protect children from the cold.

The sun, appearing softly behind the morning mist, signals a gradual clearing of the fog.

According to the latest forecast, the fog in Ranchi and surrounding areas is expected to dissipate, potentially leading to a further temperature drop.
