XLRI Hosts Global Industrial Relations Conference

XLRI and Leeds University’s Joint Conference on Labor Relations

Jamshedpur’s XLRI recently concluded a major conference on “International Industrial Relations” with global insights.

JAMSHEDPUR – A two-day “International Industrial Relations” conference was organized at XLRI, Jamshedpur.

The event was a collaboration between XLRI Xavier School of Management, Leeds University Business School, and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).

It marked 75 years of labor, industrial relations, research, and education.

The conference’s contemporary theme focused on labor and work industrial relations from a global perspective in a changing world.

Sixty delegates, including experts in law, economics, sociology, psychology, political science, history, labor geography, and anthropology, attended.

These experts, from 40 institutions across 10 countries including the US, UK, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, and Argentina, presented 42 research papers in 12 sessions.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Professor Mark Stuart of Leeds University and Amitabh Mukherjee, CHRO of ITC Limited.

Two workshops on academic writing were also part of the event, facilitating interactions with top journal editors.

Professor Shantanu Sarkar of XLRI, the conference chairman, highlighted the year-long preparation and the diversity of ideas brought by international scholars.

Research topics included the impact of global crises on employment, technology innovation, labor flexibility, gender equality, labor movements, pandemic-related care work, and crisis mitigation strategies.
