JAMSHEDPUR – In a concerning turn of events in Jamshedpur West, NDA candidate Saryu Roy’s supporters have reported attempts to confuse voters about his EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) number.
Election agent Jitendra Nath Mishra has filed a formal complaint to Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar and district election authorities, describing a suspicious campaign vehicle spreading misinformation by broadcasting the incorrect EVM number, 27, instead of Roy’s actual EVM number, 12.
The incident allegedly involved a pickup van near Kadma Hindu Club bearing a permit for an independent candidate, Saryu Dusad, with vehicle number JH05DS1176. However, the van featured Roy’s promotional materials and announced the wrong EVM number, causing serious voter confusion.
Suspicious Vehicle Sparks Confusion Among Voters, Says Team Saryu Roy
According to Mishra’s letter, the pickup van bore Roy’s branding and played an audio message repeatedly instructing voters to select EVM number 27, not 12, which is Roy’s actual number on the voting machine.
This deliberate misinformation, he claims, is a calculated attempt to derail Roy’s campaign efforts.
Mishra emphasized that the vehicle’s materials closely resembled Roy’s authorized campaign vehicles, which has only added to the confusion among voters.
Demand for Urgent Action
Mishra urged election authorities to act swiftly to uncover the individuals behind the scheme and prevent further misguidance.
He expressed concern that such tactics might influence voter behavior, describing it as “a clear attempt to derail Saryu Roy’s campaign and mislead voters.”
The incident has underscored the importance of strict enforcement against election mischief, particularly as the election date approaches.
