Inauguration of the Chief Minister Football Cup Marks Start of a Spirited Contest

RANCHI – The three-day Jharkhand State Level Chief Minister Football Cup competition was inaugurated today, marking the beginning of an exciting sporting event spanning from 10 to 12 January 2024.

Organized under the Department of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand, the tournament commenced at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium.

Tourism Secretary Manoj Kumar officially opened the competition in a ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

Teams from four Jharkhand zones – Dhanbad, Dumka, Chaibasa, and Ranchi – are vying for the title in both male and female categories.

The inaugural match in the men’s category saw Ranchi’s winner triumph over Seraikela-Kharsawan with a close 3-2 score.

A deadlock occurred between Pakur and Dhanbad winners, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Ranchi’s winners secured another victory by defeating Dhanbad runners-up 2-0.

In a goalless match, Ranchi runner-up and Seraikela Kharsawan winner ended with a draw.

In the women’s category, Ranchi’s team continued their winning streak by defeating West Singhbhum 2-0.

Pakur emerged victorious over Bokaro with a 1-0 score.

Ranchi winners again triumphed against Bokaro, winning 1-0.

Dhanbad secured a convincing win against Sahibganj, concluding the match with a 3-0 score.
