Circuit House Chaibasa Chowk Commemorates Serengsia Valley War Leader
Jamshedpur’s Circuit House Chaibasa Road Chowk was renamed Veer Shaheed Poto Ho Chowk on Wednesday, honoring the legendary war hero from the Serengsia Valley War. The renaming event was marked by tributes and remembrance of Poto Ho’s valor and leadership in the historic rebellion against British rule.
CHAIABSA – Circuit House Chaibasa Road Chowk was named Veer Shaheed Poto Ho Chowk on Wednesday in memory of Serengsia Valley War hero Veer Shaheed Poto Ho.
During this, wreaths were also placed on the portrait of brave martyr Poto Ho.
His struggles were also remembered by those present.
Poto Ho led the fierce guerrilla war against the British army in the Serengsia valley of Singhbhum.
The British army suffered a crushing defeat in this war.
26 Ho fighters were martyred.
One Subedar, one Havildar, and 13 soldiers of the British Army were injured.
People present during the naming of the square emphasized the importance of honoring the brave martyrs and great men of the tribal society.
They stated that all squares and institutions will be named after these heroes, and statues will be erected to protect and commemorate these sites.
Key attendees included Binod Savaiya, President of Kolhan Bhoomi Bachao Samiti, Riyan Samad of Jharkhand Party, and officials from Adivasi Ho Samaj Mahasabha.
Also present were Shanti Sidu, Sona Suleman Hansda, Alice Bodra, Shailendra Hembrom, Ramay Purti, Rameshwar Savaiya, Ramwati Sinku, Turi Sundi, Rudra Kumar Hembrom, Captain Birwa, and Mangal Singh Kuntiya.
