Jamshedpur Villagers Protest Over Ration Delay
Ration Scam in Jamshedpur Sparks Villagers’ Protest
In Jamshedpur’s Kashidih village, residents protest against a five-month ration delay, demanding immediate action and investigation into alleged foul play.
JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Kashidih village in Jamshedpur are in turmoil over a five-month delay in ration distribution, leading to accusations of misconduct against PDS dealer Jagdish Chandra Murmu.
The aggrieved villagers, expressing deep frustration, took to the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday to demand swift intervention.
This protest follows previous complaints made during the ‘Aapki Sarkar Aapki Camp’ at Narga Panchayat Mandap on November 29, where the Block Development Officer promised action within 15 days.
The situation escalated when Trilochan Mahato, a PDS dealer from Gaulkata village, revealed the license suspension of Jagdish Chandra Murmu to the villagers.
Upon collecting rations from Mahato’s shop, villagers uncovered discrepancies, including the distribution of only one month’s ration using Murmu’s suspended login ID.
The discovery ignited protests among villagers, questioning the operational status of a suspended dealer’s ID and pointing to deeper irregularities in the system.
Jharkhand agitator Demka Soy, supporting the villagers’ cause, called for action against SOR and MO officials, alleging departmental complicity in the scam.
The protest underscores the critical need for a thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct in the ration distribution system, highlighting systemic flaws and the urgency of addressing them.
