RANCHI – At a national seminar on child labour, Dr. M.M. Nazri, Head of the Commerce Department at Karim City College, emerged as a key figure, providing deep insights into the causes and consequences of child labour in India.
Organized by the Institute for Social Development & Research in Gari Hotwar, Ranchi, the seminar aimed to develop effective strategies to eradicate this long-standing issue.
Dr. Nazri, a distinguished speaker, stressed the serious impact of child labour, noting its deprivation of children’s rights and future opportunities.
He identified various socio-economic factors contributing to child labour, including poverty, inadequate education, social and economic backwardness, the lure of cheap labour, familial traditions, and gender bias.
Dr. Nazri also highlighted the dire outcomes of child labour, such as educational denial, health problems, emotional, and psychological harm, which perpetuate poverty and hinder national growth.
He advocated for a multi-pronged approach to combat child labour, suggesting poverty reduction, educational improvements, awareness initiatives, fair labor enforcement, rehabilitation support, and collaboration among government, NGOs, and businesses.
In his closing statement, Dr. Nazri emphasized the complexity of child labour and the importance of comprehensive solutions for a future where children are protected, empowered, and free from exploitation.
