Radhakrishnan Stresses Education’s Role in Bridging Jharkhand’s Wealth Gap at IIT ISM Event

Governor CP Radhakrishnan highlights education as a tool for economic equality and societal development during IIT ISM’s 98th Foundation Day in Dhanbad.

DHANBAD – Governor CP Radhakrishnan concluded his address by urging educators and learners to consider their societal impact beyond personal gains, emphasizing education’s role in societal betterment.

Special guest MP Pashupatinath Singh, IIT ISM Chair Professor Prem Vrat, and alumnus VK Arora also spoke, providing insights into the institute’s 98-year legacy.

The event recognized various achievers: 30 scientists ranked among the world’s top 2% by Stanford University, 11 staff for 25 years of service, 16 with the Indramohan Thapar Research Award, and recipients of Special Category, Women Achievers, Student Achievers, and PMRF Awards.

Governor Radhakrishnan emphasized the crucial role of education in bridging Jharkhand’s wealth and poverty divide, stressing the state’s resource richness versus its people’s poverty.

In his speech at IIT ISM’s 98th Foundation Day, he urged higher education institutions to ensure opportunities for quality education for all sections of society.

The Governor highlighted the need for both short-term and long-term educational planning to enhance societal development and international peace.

He mentioned the global awareness of economic fluctuations post the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stressing the importance of peace for development.

Governor Radhakrishnan emphasized the power of education in fostering confidence and producing future leaders amid rapid technological changes.

He encouraged students to focus on creativity, originality, and intelligent thinking, citing technological advancements that have led to miniaturization.

At the ceremony, awards were given to faculty, staff, students, and research scholars for various achievements, including long service and significant contributions to research and science.
