UID Update Scam Busted, Arrest Made with Significant Seizure
Jamshedpur Cyber Police arrest fraudster in Banka, Bihar, seizing mobiles, SIM cards, and cash in UID update scam.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Cyber Police have scored a significant victory in their ongoing battle against cybercrime.
In a recent operation, they apprehended Sumit Kumar Mandal, a member of a gang involved in fraudulent activities under the guise of updating Unique Identification (UID) numbers.
The arrest was made in the Banka district of Bihar, as confirmed by Cyber DSP Jayshree Kujur.
This breakthrough comes as part of a wider investigation into a series of complaints received from the residents of Govindpur area regarding UID update scams.
During the operation, the cyber police team, led by the Govindpur police station in-charge, recovered ten mobile phones, 32 SIM cards, and Rs 9,000 in cash from Mandal.
Following his arrest, Mandal was interrogated in Govindpur and is now being sent to judicial custody.
DSP Kujur revealed that the names of three additional suspects have emerged in the case, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend them.
This arrest underscores the commitment of the Jamshedpur Cyber Police in cracking down on cyber fraud and protecting citizens from digital scams.
The operation has been a significant step in dismantling a network that exploited individuals under the pretext of UID updates.
