Tata Steel Kolkata 25K: Registrations Exceed, Countdown Begins

Kolkata begins the countdown for the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K 2023, featuring international athletes and a festive atmosphere.
KOLKATA – The much-awaited Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, one of India’s largest running festivals, has officially started its countdown at Victoria Memorial, Kolkata.
This event, renowned as the only AIMS-accredited 25K course and a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race, promises a scenic route passing iconic landmarks.
Kolkata, serving as the event’s heart, has witnessed an overwhelming response with registrations for the 25K, 10K, and Silvers’ Run exceeding capacity.
The Ananda Run and Champions with Disability categories are open for registration until November 30.
Esteemed personalities like World Champion Hurdler Colin Jackson, and Indian sports icons Jhulan Goswami and Koushani Mukherjee, will be in attendance to inspire participants.
Major General H. Dharmarajan highlighted the cultural and sporting significance of this event for Kolkata.
Tata Steel Vice President Chanakya Chaudhary expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its celebration of resilience and sustainability.
Samarendra Kumar from the Ministry of Culture acknowledged the event’s promotion of health and well-being.
The event has announced special initiatives to enhance the runners’ experiences, including exclusive Race Day Gear by T10 Sports and a unique ‘Medal of Steel’ for 25K finishers.
Participants in other categories will also receive medals and certificates, with the Ananda Run featuring a Costume Contest.
A concert by Saregama Artists is planned to celebrate the competitors’ achievements.
The event also honors Vijay Diwas with a special trophy, involving teams from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Kolkata Police’s involvement is recognized through the Police Cup, with 170 teams competing.
Runners and fitness enthusiasts can attend the Mirchi Get Active Expo for insights into running, health, and lifestyle.
The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K will be broadcast live on Sony TEN 1 HD and SD on December 17, showcasing the city’s vibrant running culture.
