Manjhgaon villagers protest black-marketing of PDS food-grains

Hundreds of villagers of Ichapi and nearby villages in Tartaria panchayat of Manjhgaon block in West Singhbhum have come together to protest alleged black-marketing of PDS food grains.

Chaibasa: Hundreds of villagers of Ichapi, Bamarpani, Lidiyam under the leadership of mukhiya Babulal Tiriya held a meeting at Ichapi Haat Pragana in protest against alleged black marketing of PDS shop food-grains by J K Paan, the secretary of Shiv Parvati Mahila Samuh in Ichapi village of Tartaria Panchayat under Mazgaon block.

Madhav Chandra Kunkal, District Vice President of Akhil Bharatiya Krantikari Adivasi Mahasabha was present on the occasion.

The villagers made their issues known to him. He said that for a long time, black marketing of ration is being done by Shiv Parvati Mahila Group secretary.

The villagers said that PDS grains were also not being dispensed in the right quantity.

They said that whenever a man protests, he is threatened to be implicated in a false rape case.

The villagers said that this has created fear among the villagers.

They said that on August 21, the villagers had caught the women’s group secretary selling 4 bags of wheat.

The villagers protested the black-marketing.

The villagers demanded that the PDS license of Shiv Parvati women’s group be cancelled.

The meeting decided that the villagers would hold a sit-in in front of the Block Office at Mazgaon in the coming days demanding cancellation of license of Shiv Parvati Mahila Group.
