Tech 5 Leads Successful Film Event at Center for Excellence

Bistupur’s Center for Excellence was the vibrant stage for the two-day Short Film Festival 2023, featuring a diverse array of cinematic works.

JAMSHEDPUR – Bistupur’s Center for Excellence recently became the hub of cinematic creativity, hosting the two-day Short Film Festival 2023, organized by Tech 5 Communication, Kolkata.

The festival, spread across Saturday and Sunday, showcased a total of 13 films.

Saturday featured seven films, while Sunday presented six distinct works.

The lineup included 8 Hindi, 2 English, 2 Bengali, and 1 Assamese film, with durations ranging from 6 to 29 minutes.

Several of the films screened over the two days were recipients of international and national awards, earning acclaim from the audience.

Sunday’s screenings included Hindi films ‘Fark,’ ‘Talaashi – The Search,’ ‘Naksha,’ ‘Subarnarekha Ke Takht Par,’ ‘Hathi Kheda Ka Pavitra Upvan,’ and the Assamese film ‘No Parking.

Tathagata Bhattacharjee, head of Tech 5 Communication and a film director, reflected on the 16-year journey of the festival, a joint venture between the Center for Excellence Jamshedpur and Tech 5 Communication Kolkata.

He emphasized that the festival is not a competition but a platform for budding filmmakers to learn from seasoned professionals.

Highlighting the growing career opportunities in filmmaking, Bhattacharjee noted the increasing participation of artists from Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur, in short films.

The quality of film production has been on the rise annually.

Remarkably, 5 out of the 13 films showcased this year were made in Jamshedpur, with local directors and actors.

Many Jamshedpur artists who started with short films have now progressed to significant roles in the film and TV industry in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and other locations.

This festival, supported by Tata Steel, represents a collaboration between the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE), Jamshedpur and Tech 5 Communications, Kolkata, demonstrating a thriving partnership that fosters cinematic talent.
