Jamshedpur Ready to Host Two-Day Short Film Festival

Bistupur’s Center for Excellence to showcase 13 short films, including local talent, in the two-day Short Film Festival 2023.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Russian Modi Center for Excellence in Bistupur is gearing up for the two-day Short Film Festival 2023, scheduled for the 25th and 26th of November. Organized by Tech 5 Communication Kolkata, this festival, now in its 16th year, promises to be a captivating event for film enthusiasts.
A total of 13 short films, ranging from 6 to 29 minutes in length, will be screened over the two days. Notably, five of these films are creations by artists from Jamshedpur’s Kolhan region.
The first day will feature seven films, followed by six on the second day. The languages of these films vary, with 8 in Hindi, 2 in English, 2 in Bengali, and 1 in Assamese, reflecting a diverse range of storytelling and cultural backgrounds.
The festival will be inaugurated by social worker Lalita Sarin, with Purvi Ghosh attending as a special guest. This year’s lineup includes both local and international entries, with films from Mumbai, Kolkata, and even the United States.
Among the films to be showcased are "Maria" by Rajat Ghosh, "Biryani" by Sanjiban Mitra, "Chhod Na Yaar" by Adikesh Bhargava, and "I Want Mother" by Abhishek Ganguly, offering a mix of genres and themes. The festival is supported by Tata Steel and represents a collaboration between the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE), Jamshedpur, and Tech 5 Communications, Kolkata.
The organizers claimed that this Short Film Festival not only provides a platform for budding filmmakers to showcase their talent but also contributes to the cultural fabric of Jamshedpur, highlighting the city’s growing significance in the arts and entertainment sector.
