New Diagnostic Tool Aims to Revolutionize Breast Cancer Detection in Jamshedpur Region
Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital inaugurates an advanced mammography machine, expected to transform breast cancer diagnosis as part of the concluding ceremonies for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
JAMSHEDPUR – Breast Cancer Awareness Month concluded at Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art mammography machine, equipped with Tomosynthesis for enhanced accuracy in disease detection.
The machine was inaugurated by Atrayee Sanyal and Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice Presidents of Tata Steel, in a ceremony also attended by prominent figures from the medical community.
Dr. Sujata Mitra, Director of MTMH, underscored the game-changing capabilities of the new equipment in diagnosing breast cancer with greater accuracy.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the hospital had carried out various initiatives including free breast cancer screenings for women journalists.
In addition to its recently inaugurated mammography machine, MTMH, a 128-bed hospital, offers an array of cancer treatment options.
It was in 2019 that Ratan Tata inaugurated the extensively upgraded MTMH facility.
Initially founded in 1975, the hospital has been a cornerstone for cancer care in Jamshedpur.
MTMH is renowned for performing image-guided biopsies, a procedure not available elsewhere in the region.
The hospital provides treatment under the PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat) scheme and also receives financial aid for indigent patients through various avenues.
