Kanya Puja With Prayers to Combat Jharkhand’s Malnutrition Crisis
Roti Bank’s Event Focuses on Curbing Rising Malnutrition and Anemia Rates in Jharkhand
In a special event led by Roti Bank Charitable Trust, 251 children were honored in a bid to raise awareness about Jharkhand’s alarming malnutrition levels, as highlighted by recent UNICEF data.
JAMSHEDPUR – Roti Bank Charitable Trust is targeting districts like Seraikela Kharsawan and East Singhbhum to give new hope to children plagued by malnutrition.
Each day, the death toll due to malnutrition is escalating.
Trust Chairman Manoj Mishra has urged citizens to support Roti Bank in their monumental struggle against this crisis.
Political parties have been exhorted to make malnutrition a critical issue and include it in their election manifestos.
Mishra stressed that the situation in Jharkhand is severe, as nearly half of its children suffer from malnutrition.
The state, already facing a grim scenario with stunted growth and inadequate weight gain among children, is further impacted by malnutrition.
While the government offers Rs 100 per day to mothers visiting the 95 MTC centers in Jharkhand, the response is lackluster due to inadequate awareness and government indifference.
29-30% of the malnourished children in Jharkhand are in dire need of immediate admission to MTC centers.
As per a recent UNICEF report, about 43% of children and 55% of women in Jharkhand are grappling with malnutrition and anemia respectively.
Addressing the grave situation, Trust Chairman Manoj Mishra led a special event, where gifts were distributed to all the 251 children, including 101 girls, who were worshiped in Chhaya Nagar.
