US Consul General’s Outreach Visit Highlights Biden and Modi’s Commitment to Joint Academic Ventures

US Consul General Melinda Pavek underlines the dedication of the US and Indian administrations towards fortifying educational and research partnerships, during her visit to XLRI Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – In an eye-opening session at XLRI Jamshedpur on August 25, US Consul General Melinda Pavek shed light on the future of US-India educational partnerships.

She was greeted by Prof. Sanjay Patro, Dean Academics, who briefed her on the global footprint of XLRI alumni, revealing that approximately 400 are based in New York alone.

Pavek disclosed that both US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are keenly focused on amplifying joint educational and research initiatives.

The aim is holistic growth,” Pavek stated, as she discussed speeding up the student exchange program.

She highlighted that around 20,000 Indian students are currently pursuing their studies in the US and suggested that their global perspective would be enriched further with this initiative.

American Ambassador Eric Garcetti envisions increasing American student participation in Indian programs, Pavek revealed, adding that the diverse fabric of India offers an invaluable learning environment.

Addressing concerns over academic calendars, Pavek called for a streamlined system that would enable students from both countries to partake in summer internships abroad.

She responded to faculty queries about US visa delays, affirming that efforts are underway to simplify the process as education and research collaborations remain a priority for the US Mission in India.
