Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari’s Effigy Burnt in Jamshedpur Protest
Protest erupts in Jamshedpur over Congress MLA Irfan Ansari’s comments; community demands an apology and his resignation.
JAMSHEDPUR – An effigy of Congress MLA Irfan Ansari from Jamtara was burnt at the Parsudih Birsa Munda Sopodera ground in Jamshedpur.
This act followed remarks by Ansari, which the indigenous tribes of Jharkhand felt insulted their sentiments.
It is reported that not only the tribal leader Babulal Marandi but also the entire tribal community has felt hurt by Ansari’s comments.
Protesters claimed that Ansari’s statements failed to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the tribal communities, from the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, to those on the country’s borders.
The protesters demanded that Ansari apologize for his alleged inappropriate statements and resign from his post.
They argued that individuals with such “small feelings” towards the natives of Jharkhand should not be allowed to live in the state.
The protest was primarily organized by Sourav Rahul Singh, Yashwant Shukla, Sisant Maurya, Pankaj, Subhash, Prakash, Akash Srivastava, Bhola Prasad, and Abhishek Singh.
Scores of workers and tribal community representative Ramchandra Munda from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad were present during the protest.
